I found myself in the emergency room, from years of working under poorly managed systems and in toxic stress. My doctor worried about the rapid decline of my health. Quite frankly, I was terrified, too. As I sat in the ER thinking, “This just didn't make sense?! I was doing everything “right.” I was part of the 5 am gym club, I went to therapy, watched what I ate, and cut back on alcohol. But guess what? I still wasn’t okay.
This was the catapult that led me to the most transformative healing journey of my life. I call it the “unwinding." I went all in on me. I shedded years of narratives I had internalized and accepted, and developed new ones. Ones that aligned with who I am, today, now.
Growing up as a bicultural first-gen Latina, I felt the weight of expectations and the pressure to fit into systems that didn’t always understand or value who I was. I know the pain of feeling unseen, unheard, and undervalued. But I also know the power of reclaiming your identity and stepping into your true self.
After more than a decade working in mental health and public education, developing into a Latina leader and expert in trauma-informed care, I had the privilege of leading motivated teams, spearheading and co-developing one-of-a-kind projects, and building healing spaces both in and out of education and non-profit settings. But amid these accomplishments, I couldn’t ignore a recurring theme that became all too clear: the lack of professional and leadership development for people of color—especially for women of color.
Time and time again, I found myself as the only person of color in the room, let alone as a woman. Although there is a sense of pride being in these spaces, the loneliness and challenges of navigating these spaces without the proper support and guidance are REAL. As a fierce advocate for our community, it was deeply frustrating to witness how these systems, historically designed to push us out, continue to fail us.
What I learned was that all the doctors prescribed “self-care” in the world would never be enough when the systems you are part of are so unhealthy. You don't need more therapy or an extra hour in the gym—you need space to identify, heal and REBUILD from the environments that were draining you.
My why is simple: I want to see you thrive. I want to see you break free from the systems that have held you back and step into the fullness of who you are. And I want to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Together in private coaching, I’ll help you challenge these systems, break down barriers, and create a future where you not only have a seat at the table but lead the conversations.
